Thyku Some might call this a Haiku, at Dear Thyroid, Mike Calls it a Thyku
I once knew your name
fog, confusion run amok
two plus two is what?
twenty-three point five
my TSH was that day
I was diagnosed
looks in the mirror
I feel very frustrated
strange man, who are you?
full glass of water
a river carries you down
my little blue friend
yesterday smooth now
craters, pits, ridges on my
lunar fingernails
butterfly went bye
I wish I could miss you but
you don’t matter much
alpha and beta
gamma radiation too
damage has been done
no July heat wave
nor summer fire can thaw the
winter in my feet
just before it went
completely flat, my thyroid
gave me a spare tire
important meeting
must impress vice president
“Hi my name is… … …uhm… …???â€
if I take my pill
each day, do I have to buy
salt with iodine?
run a mile and then
eat my veggies and no fat
I gain seven pounds
(Bio) Mike has the nobody-knows-why-type of hypothyroidism for at least the last 9.5 years. He’s only 36 now, but feels 63.
