My Dear Thyroid,

You are a pain in my neck!!

I absolutely resent the fact the quality of the rest of my life depends on that little pill, which really doesn’t help all that much. Why, why, why did you fail me?

Because of you, I look and feel like a bloated toad. Because of you, I move about as fast as a three-toed-sloth. Because of you, I suffer from CRS (can’t remember shit). Because of you, I’m surprised my husband hasn’t left me since I have absolutely NO libido and no energy if I did! Thanks a lot!

I took good care of you in my youth, and this is how you treat me?! Oh, I’ve had muscle aches and headaches before, but at least I did something to deserve them. Now, I don’t have to do anything and I still hurt!

Oh, and thanks a lot for the heart palpitations. I don’t know how many nights I’ve laid awake wondering if the old ticker was going to flutter and die. The only good thing to come out of that was a trip to a wonderful cardiologist who did a stress test, echocardiogram and carotid doplar.

At least I know my heart is working like it’s supposed to! I just wanted you to know how terribly disappointed and disgusted with you I am.

(Bio) I’m a 60 year old female diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis about seven years ago. I was put on 75mcg of Synthroid which worked fine until my mail order pharmacy suggested I take levothyroxin instead as it would save ME money. Last winter was the worst of my life with exhaustion, dry skin, weight gain, and feeling cold constantly. My thyroid was increased to 100 mcg but I still have symptoms and continue to gain weight. Back to Synthroid!

    CRS LOL! 🙂
I just started to get my libido back after switching to a compounding pharmacy for my Armour. They make it there so that there are less fillers in it an more meds. I am starting to feel great. It’s wierd having your libodo back – I feel like I am learning all over again. And NO Madonna you may not sing about it!

Never ever trust a Pharmacy! When my old Pharmacy tried to change my meds I called my doctor right away.

Good for you Jody! I still don’t understand why your pharmacy thinks they have the right to change the doctor’s orders. WTH??

That is so funny, “can’t remember shit – CRS” I hope I can remeber it 😉

I am now on NDT but first I was on synthetic T4 like you are on now. I was getting a different brand every month of generic Synthroid. I finally asked for Levoxyl which is still as cheap (cost wise) as any generic but you are getting the same brand drug and consistency of the medication every time. Many people that did well on Synthroid seem to do well on the Levoxyl brand. Levoxyl 50 mcg dose has less fillers and no color additives in it for people that cannot tolerate the inactive ingredients. The only issue is that you may need to take more than one pill or cut some pills to get the dose you need. Your doctor would need to write “No Substitution” on the prescription and that way they have to give you only Levoxyl.

I hope you feel better soon.

I think I have CRS.. I can’t remember! Agh!!! This exhaustion is the worst, I so agree with you. How can I feel so tired when my pulse is over 100 beats a minute! I’m glad you shared. There are so many of us here who know exactly what you are going through. The writing helps get it out, so we can look at it, and maybe toss it out if we don’t want to look at it anymore. We’ll be here..supporting you all the way. Keep writing!

I have done SOOO much better on Levoxyl than Synthroid. And I’m not usually even sensitive to stuff like that.

  5. Lolly says:

    I suffer with CFS (can’t fucking sleep)it’s a Gas.

Sorry that since you changed from one med to another things have changed for you ask to go back on the one that works best for you.

    Lolly
