DEAR THYROID^TM

Dear thyroid,

Even though you are no longer here with me I really miss you.   Some of the folks at Dear Thyroid have written poems, so I thought I’d write you a nice song.   It’s in a 12 bar blues format, which seemed sort of appropriate:

I woke up this morning

Feeling like I died in my sleep

Yes I woke up this morning (sort of)

And I felt like I died, in my sleep

When I got up out of bed

it was all that I could do,  just to,  weep.

I saw the doctor a while ago

and he gave me a little pill

I saw the doctor, not that long ago

and he gave me a little pill

He said please wait, until I leave the room,

then you can take it if you will

He said stay away from people, and

don’t kiss your lover, for two days

Yes stay twelve feet from anyone

and kiss no one, for two days.

Well my family sent me to the woods

they,  said come back when we’ll be safe.

I put my white dress on that night

sat by the river, ‘neath the trees

It was a ghostly long white dress

I was a wraith, wand’ring thru the trees

You know I felt something leave me

My poor butterfly was finally free

Now the fun and games,  are done

and life seems like a lie.

yes the fun and games are done

and all the promises are lies

the doctor gave me another pill (it’s synthroid)

and said without it, you will die.

Okay I know that days and safe don’t really rhyme but it’s the blues so it’s okay to drop the dipthongs.

Now that I’ve written you a song, I hope while you watch me from endocrine heaven that you,  will intercede on behalf of my immune system.   Maybe send it a 12 step program to help with it’s behavior so it doesn’t hurt anything else.
