Guess what, Thyrodians! BIG ANNOUNCEMENT,  did I spell that correctly? We have a new health care column beginning tomorrow called Going for the Throat, written by Robyn Davis Hahn, Dear Thyroid’s New Health Care Editor-In-Chief, which will be published on Thursday’s, beginning tomorrow.

From Robyn, To “go for the throat” is to attack mercilessly.   It comes from the idea that a predator will aim to bite and latch onto its prey’s throat to quickly kill it. After all, the throat is one of the most vulnerable parts of the body and is vital to survival.

As thyroid patients, we know only too well how important and vulnerable our throats are, and it is up to each of us to protect it.   To that end, my goal is to provide information, opinions, research and news to help us to become the best patients and protectors of our thyroid health.   The focus of the articles will be on the doctor-patient relationship, health insurance related issues, and other areas of patient health advocacy.   Only by being informed and educated about all aspects of our health care we can make the best decisions for ourselves and our care.

I hope that all of you are as excited about this as we are! What I’m most enthusiastic about is the opportunity to learn more about health care, health care reform, insurance issues and how all of that impacts our daily lives. I have a feeling, this will help us continue our grassroots effort in creating more awareness for thyroid diseases and thyroid cancers.

Many thanks, Robyn.
