Dear Thyroid;

A little more than two months ago, I had you cut in half. You will recall that we agreed that this was best for both of us. You were carrying a golf ball-sized nodule on your left side, and pressing it into my wind pipe. Because you carried this burden, and because I was having difficulty breathing, this was the best option for both of us.

I have since had blood drawn to check your levels, and found that you are slightly hypothyroid. This is fine with me. At this time, my Endocrinologist told me that I do not need to medicate you. I found this to be wonderful news for us. It gives me time to take care of some other health issues, and hopefully stop taking other medications before adding thyroid medication.

I hope that you accept this as a gift from me to you.

I love you, Thyroid.

XOXO,
Becky

Have you ever had a nodule removed from your thyroid? Do you love your thyroid? What transitions have you gone through with your disease or in life, generally speaking? Let us know in the comments section.

    Becky,

    I too had a nodule right lobe size of a pool/snooker ball had the whole thyroid removed.Hope that you continue to feel better now that that lump has gone and that you will only require the minimum hormone replacement because you will still have a partially functioning thyroid.

    good luck all the best hope you have recovered well from your surgery.

    Nice letter too.

  2. Lolly;

    Thanks for sharing and commenting. I didn’t know that you had a nodule on top of everything else.

    Lovely support from a lovely thyrella.

    Yes I had a large nodule on my right lobe that was a cause for concern 5 FNA’s couldn’t get a conclusive result to see if was benign or not, so only option was to have a full TT all because of this large nodule they also discovered some smaller ones on the left lobe I lost one parathyroid gland which was pretty good considering how large my goiter and nodule was with no adverse effect on calcium, post surgery.

    I will be around more soon Kelly moves in on the 28th it’s all systems go this week and next so don;t worry if I’m not about much “I’ll be back” now where the fuck have I heard that before Arnie.

  4. Lolly;

    You kill me. I adore you.

    Damn, that’s one hell of a nodule. So sorry, honey buns. Glad it was removed.

    Becky, I love your attitude. so wonderful. I try to be so positive but I wonder, would I be in that situation? A good example you are! Hope everything goes well for you!

    Never had a nodule removed but have been hypo for the last 20 years excluding the year after each child was born when I became hyper.
