Hello Everyone!

Thank you so much for your patience. We wanted to give you a quick update on the awareness bands.

  1. 600 Bands have already gone out
  2. 2,000 Bands have just arrived

We will be sending out awareness bands throughout the next couple of weeks. As much as we’d love to send them all out right away, we simply don’t have the man/woman power to do it. Your continued graciousness and patience is appreciated. If you have not received your band yet, please know that it’s coming!

If you don’t receive your band by April, please email Katie and let her know.

We have plenty of “INVISIBLE NO MORE” thyroid awareness bands. As of February 1st, we began requesting a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) to receive a band. The maximum order for bands is 4. If you require more, please let us know, so we can special order them. Please note: All bands are 100% free!

Thank you for continuing to spread awareness for thyroid diseases and thyroid cancers. The more we do by way of acknowledging our diseases and cancers serves to empower ourselves and help educate others.  Keep those requests for bracelets coming.

Love,

Dear Thyroid

I’d be interested to know how they fit everyone. Mine is a touch big, but I’m not a large person. Are they fitting most of y’all well? Too big? Too small? Just right?

  2. Robyn – Great question! Thank you for asking. Just an FYI – we have 500 mediums. I’ll send you a few of those and see if they fit better. If we need to order more mediums, we’ll do it.

  3. Lori C says:

Just right for me, not too tight, not too loose. if you have a small wrist i can see how they might be loose.

If I gave the size I have to my sister, it would be too big. Never even occurred to me.

  4. Bonnie in OKC says:

    Katie,

If you haven’t sent me mine yet, I would love to have the smallest one you have. I dont want to seem picky, but I am only 4″10″ and weigh 86 pounds and I would sure like to be able to wear it. lol
My son (who also has graves) wants one too, but he is large. lol

Katie, I am going to the doctor tomorrow at the O.U. Breast Institute. After removing that lump last spring, there was another one that needed to be checked, but they wanted to wait a bit and I din’t want to screw up the hoidays for the kids. Hopefully it went away on it’s own. I lost my sister Phyllis to breast cancer in 2001, so I am a little nervous about that stuff. I have a pink pin and a couple of Race for the Cure t-shirts from way back then, and I still wear them…and now I can have a bracelet, too.

I also wanted to tell you my email has changed, and it’s listed up at the top of the letter.

    Thanks, you guys,
    Ya’ll are just great!
    Bonnie

  5. Pam says:

You are keeping the post office in business! 🙂 I’ve been looking for a bracelet to wear for my wedding but they are all too big! Everything is a standard size 7″ or 7.5″ & most cannot be altered, unless it is an expensive diamond bracelet that’s way above my budget! Very frustrating! The yellow Livestrong bracelets fit me – I thought they were a standard size, never noticed a size on the packaging.

  6. Would love one but am in Australia so a SASE is a bit tricky. What about if I could send you payment though Paypal or something like that, get a few off you and I could distribute them to the Aussie contingent by SASE within Australia? Would that work? I reckon you should do a photo collage getting people to send you pics wearing their bracelets all over the place in fornt of landmarks! Great initiative, we need to raise awareness more, most of the public have no idea about thyroid issues.

  7. Have a new word for you too following the above post – THYPO – def. a typographical error attributable to a crappy thyroid! Blood tests, body temp whatever, I will know my thyroid is good again when I can manage a post without at least one “thypo” in it!

  8. dearthyroid says:

Lorikins, we have mediums now, too! If you need/want more, email Katie. xo

  9. dearthyroid says:

    Bonnie;

Good luck with the exam. Please, please, please let us know how it goes! If you want to talk about how you’re feeling, please know that we’re here for you.

Got it – we have mediums. We can send you a medium. Not sure if yours went out. People are still receiving the 600 we sent out.

Lots of healing good wishes and hugs,
    Katie

  10. dearthyroid says:

Pam – Did you order a bracelet in January or February? Can you please email katie@dearthyroid.org? We can get you a medium, no problem.

PS: LOVE THE DIAMOND BRACELET yarn as compared to an awareness band.

    xo

  11. dearthyroid says:

Ciara, please email me and we’ll figure something out to get you a bracelet.

Love ‘thypo’. You are hysterical. That is a goodie. Can we add it to the glossary?

    xo

  12. Lolly says:

    Katie,

As you know I am still waiting for mine if it doesn’t arrive in a couple of weeks I will let you know, sometimes the mail is so slow snailmail that it can take weeks and other times it can arrive in record time. I look forward to getting it and wearing it with pride never gave it a thought about the size I don’t have big wrists.Big thyoobs though so no thyipple wrings for thyroid awareness Pleeeeease.

  13. Lolly, YOU KILL ME! Please, if you don’t receive, you must let us know. DO NOT FORGET.

    xo

  14. Bonnie in OKC says:

    Katie,

Everything went fine today, and thanks for asking! I was really nervous about it. Now I am feeling really fine!

Cant wait to get my bracelet, and a medium will be great.

No thypo’s are in this letter. 🙂

    ttyl,
    Bonnie

  15. Sally, you are absolutely correct, it shows that you’re an authority on the subject. I admire someone that takes the pride you have and with your projecton of information. oSo when i actually do sit down to read material, I appreciate well written and organized blogs like this one. I have it bookmarked and will be back. Thanks.
