Flying with Broken Wings: Butterflies and Phoenixesanother fabulous installation written by, Sarah Downing. She wrote a lot about what it feels like to be an outcast, historically, I mean. Circling back to present day, how that concept of ostracism feels to us as patients with thyroid disorders and cancers. Additionally, she wrote about community, the importance of it to her, among other things. A great read, not to be missed. Catch it if you can. Don’t be shy, either.

So many beautiful comments—lots of love and support, including more stories about how our thyamily feels about their disease. Thank you.

Thank you Sarah.

What a great article.

I can totally relate to everything you, ´ve said.

When I was first diagnosed with Hashimotos I started searching for answers on the internet. My first stops were Mary Shomons website and Dear Thyroid. I am thankful every day that I found this great community and that I get to be a part of it and help people find their way through all of this.

To me being able to share my experiences and show others that they are not alone in this is a like gift.

No one should feel left alone.

And to me this is exactly what Dear Thyroid is about. Sharing our experiences in those unique letters to our thyroids to show every other thyroid patient that they are not alone with their fears and frustration and using those letters as a catharsis to redefine ourselves and deal with all of our fear and anger.

Today’s Thyrants and Thyraves brought, once again, unrelenting honesty, anger, joy, success (yay) and sorrow. Every rant and rave, is important, and brings us together as a community. Thank you so much for sharing as much of yourselves as you have and continue to.

Dear thyroid, I hate you thyroid. Kind of dumb aren’t ya? You are too stupid to even know how to work right. What you have my dumb thyroid, is a pill addiction, you refuse to work unless I give you your pill. Go ahead, prove me wrong, start working on your own, I dare you. Quit making your problems my problems. Dear head, I sure wish you would clear up and stop listening to that thyroid; you are much smarter than it is. Can’t you take over control of things. It would be so much easier if you would. Dear nerves, I’m sorry you are so messed up by all the nonsense that thyroid and head are giving you. Tell me what it is that I need to do for you to fix you. I liked you so much better when I didn’t even know you existed. Dear heart, please keep pumping.
