Today’s comments of the day are from two Dear Thyroid posts, Thyrants and Thyraves: And A Few Questions, as well as Thyme for a Literary Healing: Sometimes I feel Like I’m a Dial-a-Disease Wheel, And…

The core of our brand identity is for us to come together as a community and write our stories, in as many fashions as possible: Dear Thyroid Letters, Rants and Raves, Literary Healings and other thylicious things we come up with along the way. Every time, we connect on this website, and we share more of ourselves with each other, we give voice to a disease that has reinvented every aspect of our lives, good or bad, for better or worse, Dear Thyroid is written by us and for us.

Thyrants And Thyraves: And, Questions: Acceptance, lots of patients wrote about their rants and raves of the day, and talked about what acceptance meant to them with respect to their diseases. In comments, we hope people rant and rave, respond to questions and lend support to each other. Though, this was not the case today, I hope you’ll give it a read and reach through your screen, to send some cyber hugs, among other things.

Thank you to everyone for being so brave and sharing your stories. Great work!

Thyme For Literary Healing: Sometimes I Feel Like I’m A Dial-A-Disease-Wheel, And…, in today’s literary healing, we asked patients what it feels like to live with multiple chronic conditions and, or cancer and other chronic conditions. Lots of patients spoke up and courageously shared their stories. Sarah also provided a lot of support and insight about PCOS, as well as spilling bits and pieces of her story, too. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone for participating. Telling our story is not easy. What’s easy about it? What’s easy about chronicling what we’ve endured? Not very much. We do it, every single day, right here on Dear Thyroid. I’m so proud of you for doing so.

Today’s comment…

Denise Foltz says:

Hi, all! First, let me say thank you to everyone for all that you do here. I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for about fifteen years. In the last seven years, I have also developed fibromyalgia and trigeminal neuralgia. I was actually diagnosed with thyroid disease quite accidentally, while having routine blood work done. The medication, synthroid, actually seemed to be a miracle in the first few weeks, then, it seemed like, despite the blood test results each year saying I am in the right “zone”, I am exhausted, can’t lose weight no matter how hard I try, have my bouts with depression…who am I to question the professionals, but sometimes it makes me wonder..Am I crazy? Now, with all the other issues I have can’t tell where one begins and where one ends…and I wonder if this is as good as I will ever feel. Don’t get me wrong…I don’t lie there and take it..I fight every step of the way and push myself in all I do, because I refuse to let any illness rob me of who I am on the inside. And Sarah, I agree, a good workout does wonders…and it helps to have people around you who understand.

We’re including two more things in today’s comments, posts that are still being talked about from this week. The conversations are so good, you may very well want to join them. Dietary Supplements: Fact or Fiction and Fat Thigh-roid Woes: In A Fat Neck, Slim Lies.
