I wanted to begin today’s comments by thanking each one of you for being a member of Dear Thyroid. Every day, I feel a bit braver, better educated and armed with oodles of support to face my day. I know that I am not alone. This community is a gift—you are gifts. I am a better person for having each of you in my lives. THANK YOU!

Today’s Dear Thyroid Letter “A Teacher Masquerading as a Thief”, was written by Alexa Landsman. If you haven’t read it, please do. Here’s an excerpt: “What my thyroid has stolen from me & taught: In terms of what my thyroid has stolen, it has stolen nothing. If anything, I have gained an array of knowledge about my (now absent) gland.”

Thank you so much for connecting with Alexa, lending support and sharing your stories with her. This community rocks and ya’ll are flawless.

Once again, Melissa delivered a fierce installation of Chronic Snarkopolist: The Snarkopolist Method to Breaking Up with a Shitty Doctor: (50 errr 3 Ways to Leave Your Doctor). If you want to learn how to break up with a doctor that isn’t giving you quality care, laugh a lot and feel deeply empowered and inspired, I encourage. No. Implore you to read this column. Here’s an excerpt: “Three methods on how to break-up with your doctor, in true Snarkopolist form:  This is my favorite method of culling shitty doctors.    Once you MUST go to a new specialist – then it is on both you and the doctor to have a good interaction.  However, if it is not going well from the beginning, I’m a huge fan of no nonsense method –  THE WALKOUT.”

Thank you for this!..I’m still reeling from my Dr dismissing me a couple of weeks ago. She had told me that “I was wasting her time” and “she had more important patients to see”, while I was looking for a new Dr to replace her, I told the receptionist not to schedule me anymore and I told her why. 2 days later a registered letter from the Dr was delivered to me stating that “since I was unsatisfied with the care she had provided me she felt it better for us to end our professional relationship and she would no longer see me”…really…you treat me like a waste of your time, and then dismiss me?

This has me not to anxious to go find yet another Dr and start over, but that is where I am at, so that is what I shall do.

So proud of everyone for participating in todays “Thyme For Literary Healing: Sexitude, Doing Things That Make You Feel Sexy And Beautiful”. We wanted to table what it feels like post disease ravaged self, during reinvention, how to feel sexy, sexual, sensuous (as one thyrella put it), and how to remind ourselves of feeling desirable. So many individuals shared deeply intimate thoughts and feelings in today’s post.  Once again, she, me is hocking you to please check out today’s questions and connect with our fellow thyamily members.

  1. 1. Do you feel un-sexy? If so, why?

Sometimes, if I’m with younger, single women who are talk talk talking about their exploits. Are they trying to impress me, depress me or shock me? Other times when I see myself in all those mirrors in a hotel. It’s not very often that I go away and spend time in a hotel, and I’m glad. That reality check is definitely a turn off, even for me.

  1. 2. Do you feel sexy?

Most of the time, yes! Maybe more than sexy, I feel sensual. I want to experience it all.

  1. 3. What 3 things have you done to feel like the hot mama or papa you are?

Learning to love myself right where I am has been the hardest part of my journey in sexuality. I’m 55 now, so thyroid issue or not, being sexy can be a test. I’m old enough to show the cleavage (when I’m not at work ), so I do… I practice being sensual with the food I eat, the clothes I wear, the products that I use on my body..I try to wake up all my senses. I tell a story about eating a pear, and it being the all time most intense experience.

I talk sexy talk, ready books that are a little spicy..I flirt..I believe that I am sexy.

and.. I spend time with myself, exploring my own physical feelings and what I like…

Be persistent..just do it! Tell yourself..I’m sexy..keep on saying and practicing it.. it will happen

Lots of good stuff here today… well everyday. I don’t always know what to say as a comment, and yes, I freak out and delete…sorry, trying not to do that… But I read everything.

  2. Amanda, Darling – You go at your own pace. You’re doing great, kid. You speak up when you’re comfortable doing so, I’ve seen you. Very proud of you, doll.
