Butterfly Paragraph Submission, By Linda Larson
I love butterflies, I know it looks like the shape of our thyroid and that reminds us of what we have and what we are. But consider this, the butterfly is beautiful, more beautiful than the caterpillar it started as. So here’s the thing, we are now “more” beautiful on the inside.
Remember the Skin Horse in the book The Velveteen Rabbit? Do you remember what he said?
He said “By the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”
So to me butterflies remind me of this change, metamorphous, if you will. We can see this either as an illness or we can see this as a better understanding of love, life and what’s important. It’s really more than what we look like. It’s being who we are at the core. And knowing we are Real.
