Growing up I wasn’t really a Butterfly enthusiast. I didn’t have a net to catch them or have them on my “big girl” bedding. I had Holly Hobby instead. After being diagnosed and hearing the Thyroid Gland described as Butterfly shape really was first time I remember being intrigued by them. Since then I seem to gravitate to anything involving butterflies. I always have to look at Pictures, magnets, postcards and anything else with Butterflies. I currently have butterflies on my Blog, Twitter page and my Podcast logo. While I haven’t purchased anything with butterflies on it, every time I see one I pause and think about my Thyroid, sometimes even causing me to bring my hand to my neck. Intricate colored ones remind me of how much the thyroid gland does for the body. It’s the first thing I say when explaining it to others where it is and what it does. In a way it makes my disease beautiful because everyone holds butterflies in such a positive light. How can you be annoyed by such a pretty thing!

Dear Jody, It is hard now to not see a butterfly and with same thought connect to thyroid. Strange how this happened.
Not very long ago Nova had a program on the Monarch. The journey of these tiny creatures is unbelievable. From Canada to Mexico~! And because they are “Fragile” they only fly on the best days. They are suffering now because people are destroying their enviroment. Tree’s!
We have a lot in common, more than we realize. Watch the program if you can. When they fly into Mexico(same time every year) they cover trees to the point they look like leaves…..I was spell bound by what they showed.
Good luck on your entree, Linny (Linda Larson)

Jody I got a kick out of your intro about the butterfly bedding! Growing up I had numerous butterfly themed bedrooms. Each time we moved or redecorated it was always with a new butterfly wallpaper, etc. I never knew what an impact the fragile butterfly would have on my life. I also never made the connection between my childhood bedrooms and my adulthood thyroid woes until I read your graph! So interesting 🙂 thanks for that!
