Dear Thyroid;

A couple of months ago I didn’t even know who you were; then when we met, you were trying to kill me. Why what did I do to you? You and your friend Cancer thought you could bring me down, but you lost. Now, your gone; you and your friend are  no longer welcome here. I got a new friend who’s going to make sure you don’t come back. You are not missed, but not forgotten.

    Hey Bernadette,

    Love your fighting spirit. I hope you are feeling well. I am a follicular thyroid cancer survivor, close to my four year mark. I too had your attitude in the beginning and I still do but eventually our friend the pill decided to mess with me too! I hope you get your levels checked often especially if you don’t feel like yourself. I made the mistake of attributing my not feeling well to everything but my thyroid replacement med and learned the hard way that hyper or hypo symptoms mirror so many other things.

    I’m not being negative by any means, I do believe as long as your dose is right for you you can feel great, mentally and physically. But, if things change please consider that it could be related to the thyroid med and not just a cold, etc. For me, things started to change when I hit peri-menopause I’m pretty sure. Everything is so intermingled at this point that I can’t pinpoint it! I would have saved myself a lot of misery if I would have questioned the thyroid piece much earlier.

    Good luck. Thanks for writing, it helps all of us. Take care.

  2. Keep up the fight! And always remember that you are never alone in this war.
