As thyroid patients, we understand on such a deep level how priceless sanity is. We appreciate every blissful second of it – Clarity of mind. Accountability for our actions. Objectivity. Sharing ourselves with the people we love. Forgiveness. Acceptance. Parsing out reality from thyroid induced psychoses, in any degree, and so much more.

When we are sane, the choices that we make and subsequent actions have meaning in a different way, because we have our SANITY. When any of us experience this wonderful state – let’s celebrate it and each other. Moreover, let’s remind ourselves of the consequences of our actions when we are SANE. If we don’t have to burn a bridge, don’t. If we can treat people the way that we want to be treated, do. If we have an opportunity to educate, do. If we have the ability to reconnect with family and old friends, lets.

Healing is not a one-note experience; it’s so much bigger than us; akin to having a thyroid disease, thyroid cancer and/or chronic autoimmune conditions. Manging those, and relationships is challenging at best. When we’re sick as dogs and feeling beat to shit, keep fighting. When we are sane, share EVERYTHING. Live as loudly as we can every minute of every day.

Write. Write with wild abandon, Dear Thyroid letters and something new that we are launching on Dear Thyroid… To be announced next week. We’re oh, so excited.

We can all relate to this Dear Thyroid Letter, Without Sleep, There Are Many Brains On Thyroid, written by Nicholle. Sleep – lack thereof or too much. Our thyroids wreak havoc on our sleep cycle. Please check out her letter and share your story with her.

Excerpt: “I love you today because I managed to sleep for 6 hours last night. Thanks for that small reprieve; it makes me feel less crazy and mean today.”

Marie Coombes says:

Hey Nicholle,

I sleep…. but its poor quality and never long enough regardless of if I manage to lay my head down for the recommended 8 hours! To be honest the lethargy is the worst thing – I think I could cope with everything else if I weren’t so flipping tired!

Anyway… hope you maintain a feeling of restfulness and take care of yourself x

The Gland News about Thyrogen, Joanna interviewed the makers of Thyrogen. PLEASE READ HER POST and share it with absolutely everyone you know who has thyroid cancer. We need to spread this news to the world. Every thyroid cancer patient NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF what to do, to get Thyrogen.

I’ve been a radiographer for 37 yrs (this is our preferred title but most of you know us as x-ray techs) I scheduled many thyroid uptake scans in my day and remember telling the pts that they’d have to be off their meds for 3 weeks- I couldn’t understand the horrified looks on their faces-I understand now! I’m sorry… Bee, this is why I heart you so damn much. You continuously surprise me.
