Offline support – especially for patients with thyroid diseases and thyroid cancers is incredibly powerful. Online support is fantastic. That said, the opportunity to sit across from someone who has walked your mile or a similar mile affords us the opportunity to exhale and speak in shorthand. This is a gift, especially since we closet ourselves or rarely discuss our disease – not all of us, but a high percentage of us do. Please, between the Q & A or stupid questions, or whatever, we become so frustrated, we just shut down. This is un-festive.

Dear Thyroid has been doing meet-ups for a while now. We’ve just gravitated, thanks to Kerri Schwartz, into monthly support groups. Once a month it’s our time to get together with other thyroid patients and let it all hang out, and for additional support.

Please list your city. Please add your name in the hat. Email us with your city, preferred public venue and a few times, so we can connect you with other thyroid patients. There are lots of folks in Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Ohio (Columbus), Tennessee, Los Angeles, and other places. Email us. Below are the three dates for September, October and November.

  1. September 19
  2. October 17
  3. November 21.

What say you? Are you ready for some serious offline support?

Love,

Us

I’m in the Little Rock area, but don’t have the time or energy to lead a group. Being new to all of this I can be a shoulder to cry on and twisted mind to laugh with, but I don’t have my Theducation yet. 😉

i am a professional musician, yoga instructor, life coach.

i also have hashimotos and have every symptom in the book….i take levothyroxine which gives me an immediate headache when i take it. tried synthyroid and everything in between including more alternatives than i care to admit…my doc wants me to have my thyroid removed. my ear nose and throat doc says no. could lose my voice or at least damage…would love to be a part of a meet up. i spend time in michigan and california but travel quite a bit as well. chicago is an option for meet up too…am not very social-not a bar person unless i am performing, too tired to go to most parties……love to connect with others.

    thank you.

Clicking on the link was not working because I’m semi-computer illiterate and couldn’t get the POP mail to set up. I’m very interested in meeting up with people in Atlanta for offline support. I’ve been living with Graves’ Disease for almost five years and have found virtually no support for the way I’ve chosen to pursue treatment. My email is kat@sudstress.com and am open to individual or organized event invitations.

    Thanks!
    🙂 kat

I would love a support group as well. I was diagnosed back in late December. I initially felt better once I was placed on methamazole. This is crazy. Please respond and let me know if you know of a support group here in the Chicagoland area.

All dates for future meetings in London and the rest of the UK are on the BTF website and I just did a big write up of the last one on my blog.
