Thyroid Queen Contest Entry, by Linda (Linny)
Standing before the lake is a woman.
Her reflection is me.
I was once this woman clearly,
but now I am only her reflection.
A space exists between us
I cannot get to her, or she to me.
this portrait of my former self.
I am unclear,
look over her shoulder
see, there I am.
I knew her once,
and now she knows me.
When it’s night,
unless a moon,
you cannot see me.
It is dark,
and I am alone.
Then I cannot see her,
but in my dreams.
I remember her smile.
I am unclear when it is cold.
I freeze and cannot move.
I see her breath,
but mine is icy still,
no warmth.
When its hot,
I steam and fog.
I bend and move
more easily.
I have cried my eyes out,
they have swollen so,
my lids hang heavy.
and there is sand in my
vision.
When it rains,
the water ripples,
myself becomes fragments
of pieces.
unconnected.
I float and my hair
becomes wild.
In place of me,
is someone else.
different.
I am now the face in the water.
a reflection of me.

Oh Linny, I love this so much. I want to keep it forever. It is beyond beautiful and there are just big hot wet tears steaming down my cheeks. You have captured so many things, just so very many things that I feel and think. You have my vote.
