It’s still September. It’s still thyroid cancer awareness month. Dear Thyroid is still raising awareness and we’re not going to stop. Today we’re heading over to Jenny Viars’ blog, Great Little Stories.

Jenny is a fellow young adult thyroid cancer survivor, diagnosed in January 2004 at the age of 23. Jenny’s story illustrates the dire need for more awareness of this type of cancer—Jenny’s grandmother and aunt BOTH previously had thyroid cancer and she didn’t even know it until she was diagnosed herself. Further, like many others, Jenny had no symptoms of any thyroid disease prior to being diagnosed with cancer. This is why we need awareness; this is why it’s important to check your neck and to have your physician check your neck. Please head over to Jenny’s blog and read her story. Be sure to connect with Jenny in comments while you’re there!

Dear Thyroid is asking everyone to please sign the petition sponsored by Stevie JoEllie’s Cancer Care Fund to have thyroid cancer recognized as a public health issue by the Office of the Surgeon General. Please take thirty seconds out of your day and sign the petition.
