DEAR THYROID^TM

Hello to all of you wonderful peeps. Today I’m going to introduce you to our newest volunteers. Expect to see these guys and gal around our community, here on the website and on Facebook.

Amanda Whaples is our Online Communication volunteer. You may already know Amanda, but if you don’t, I hope you’ll get to know her soon. She’s such a peach. You are going to be seeing a lot of her on our Facebook pages and on DearThyroid.org. She’ll be addressing comments and helping answer any questions you may have. Amanda will be helping you get connected with the right people and the right resources.

David Isbill is our Social Media Intern. And yes, he’s my younger brother. David is a student at Valdosta State University in south Georgia. He’ll be helping Dear Thyroid with all things social media, so you’ll likely see him promoting all things Dear Thyroid on Facebook.

Peter Min is our Business Development Intern. Peter is also a student at Valdosta State University and he’s helping us grow Dear Thyroid into the non-profit we want to become. He’s also helping out with some social media research, so you may see him on Facebook as well.

Her experience is one that many of us can identify with, so be sure to read her letter and connect with her in comments.

Excerpt: My Endocrinologist – your Entomologist – is now taking care of you. You decided you didn’t want me as your only career. I am now going to get a biopsy on the 13^th of September to see what is wrong with you and your little friends the nodules. Because of your selfishness, I might have cancer.

Bringing Sexy Out of the Thyloset: Jenny Viars As we continue with thyroid cancer awareness month, we make another stop on our blog tour. Today we made a stop at Jenny Viars’ blog, Great Little Stories. Like many of us, Jenny had no symptoms of any thyroid disease prior to being diagnosed with cancer. Just How Invisible is Thyroid Disease and Thyroid Cancer? If you haven’t already, be sure to check out this post that further highlights our need for awareness.
