Acrostic Poetry using the word: DISCOVER
Dear Thyroid,
I wish I never had to know anything about you. You are hideous and dysfunctional.
Such havoc and drama you have
Created. I want to be normal. I want to feel strong and good and healthy and
beautiful.
One moment I feel like I am going to be just fine. The next, I am in a suicidal rage.
Vicious venom you have released; poisoning me; disorienting me; rendering me far too close to
the edge of insanity.
Every day is a goddamn battle. Every. Goddamn. Day.
Rest assured, dear thyroid, while my throat may be slashed and medication may run through my veins, you will never kill me. You will never win.

Wow. Great use of Discover… so descriptive.

Thank you for helping me tell my friends with your poem! I hope you don’t mind me using it, I’m new to this whole cancer thing and can’t quite organize my thoughts just yet.
Suzanne,
It is all so incredibly overwhelming. I am touched that my words are helpful to you. Please disperse, rinse and repeat as often as you need. Trust me, you will soon organize your thoughts and emotions…it is a process. I am here if I can support you in anyway. This site is amazing. Write your heart out, I promise, it will help.
xoxox,
Keira
That’s so true, and each time we’re running up that hill, wondering who we are. And then we whisper to ourselves ‘it’s me, it’s me’. We got home in our other body. Our other selves. Indeed so close to the edge of insanity. On our Walkabout deep in the woods of dysfunctionality.
