You left me feeling such a huge void

Taking away so much of me

My life has changed tremendously

My body has morphed from head to toe

Stranger in the mirror I do not know

The old me has been stripped away

Forever leaving such a deep dark hole

Where does this leave me now

Searching blindly for a life

With purpose or reason

Wasting so much time

Trying to make my life feel whole

I think it’s the void I will forever mourn

    Lisa,
Excellent poem. I can relate to so many points, especially the “wasting time” part.

    Be well,
    Amanda

    Lisa,
I wish you well…..as I begin this day -minus thyroid- I am aware that this day will be a shaky one.
I read your poem and remembered again why.
This feeling of rattling is so annoying. I feel clumsy and I had hoped to wrap up some breakables from the decorations around the house. I probably should wait now. Its scary to be handling things that feel like I’ll drop. The ladder too, I could fall.
It’s always something, so many changes and it is suppose to be better? When?
Thank you for sharing…..my best to you, Linny

    Lisa,

You poem says it all leaving a void an empty void how do we fill it how do we learn to live with that emptyness?
I hope you find the answers you are searching for and are able to fill the void I myself am still searching.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful heart felt poem.

  4. I love Lisa’s poem, too. I just wish that you, Lisa didn’t feel this way. I feel you too hard. There is a permanent void. I’m glad you used that word specifically.

Great work. Your scribbles are scribbletastic, Lisa. I think your words remind us that we aren’t as alone as we think or feel we are.

Thank you all so very much. I want us all here to remember we are not alone even when it does feel that way day to day.
In March it will be 11 years since my 1st thyroidectomy and I am still trying to find the right dosage! How annoying.
Wishing you all a bright and wonderful new year!

    Lisa
