The Shining Is Shining, Just Not the Way I Pictured it

Why must I look the way I feel

Just because I wear a smile

Doesn’t mean I’m not in pain

Is it necessary for me to moan and groan

With my chronic illnesses

On the inside as well as the outside

It helps to keep up my positive attitude

So that I do not waller in despair

My smile is to hide all my pain

I wonder if most walked in my shoes

Would they be able to keep smiling?

Who wants to walk around

Looking like crap all day long

Just because I do not look like crap

Does not mean I don’t feel like crap

I want ME to shine through

Not my pain.

I wish this would fit on a shirt or a hat. Bravo!

I hear and understand you. So many days I feel like shit. Tired and in pain. But the hair gets done, the rings and earrings in place. Hoping the outside ill get the inside to feel a bit better.

  3. I hope you find you~ YOU are what matters!

  4. Bev says:

Living with this is hell. I try my best to keep up appearences, especially when I go out. I look as good as I can (even with the hair loss!) People don’t really know I am this sick. Smiles and laughter!

  5. Amanda says:

This is great. I made a pledge to myself that no matter how I am feeling I do my best everyday, and enjoy each minute… But some days I just want to wince and scream!

This is beautiful! I am going to put it up on my cube wall at work for a reminder that there are others with me! 🙂

    It’s a wonderful poem.
