I too had thyroid cancer at 17 and a scar from ear to ear.I was bothered by it & some commets I would get untill I looked in the mirror and thought “I am alive because of these scars” They do get better & I’ve had 3 more surgeries since.21yrs later my scars are barley visable 😉 Hang in there hun & keep fighting!!
It will get better Megan, I had mine removed in 2007…I want to say to all that are on Synthroid, please look into Armour, took Synthroid for 41/2 yrs started Armour 3 months ago & feel like a human again..thanks to these sights I found Armour..
I know how you feel. I have a scar from behind my left ear all the way down to the notch in the middle of my collarbone, and from there straight down to the middle of my breasts. (had to have chest surgery too due to this cancer.) I hated them at first, but now I realize that there are much much worse thing then a scar. First of all I could be dead. Second of all I know quite a few ladies that have permanent disabilities from the surgeries they have had (including me) and they are in pain everyday. Honestly I started realizing “what is a scar compared to all I have been through?” it is a battle scar – you did battle with a really big opponent and you won. Show off that scar, girl! You will look back one day and realize that it is the hardest things in life that make us strong.
