Photo Essay Submission by Cristina Davis
This is the embroidery I did of my bad thyroid! I am 46 years old. An event planner by trade, anthropologist by training and embroider by desire. Have had thyroid cancer twice. I did a 1,200 mile cycling tour down the Pacific coast– just me and my husband. It was empowering. I have turned my life around: left a shitty job, become largely vegan, exercise regularly, pursuing creative pursuits and being kinder to myself.
