Dear Thyroid,

I feel fantastic!

Oh, and I just got my most recent blood work results back, too.

TSH is running low.  Doc thinks you’re overmedicated and wants to drop it down from 150 to 137… but just until winter.  She knows your seasonal ways, you sly devil.

I, however, prefer to stay with 150 thankyewverymuch!  Right now I may want to stay awake all night, but I also feel like I’m at 105%. Awesome!  I’m sick of just slogging along at 85%, which is what the docs and test results seem to think is “normal”.  No, it’s *not* normal.  Living life with 100% energy is normal.

Since your long, slow, cascading failure fall-from-grace that started more than 11 years ago began, other problems have arisen as a result of the collapse of the support system you provided to other tissues.  The #1 of these problems was the hypertriglyceridemia.    …  *crickets chirping* …  Oh, posh on you!  You didn’t even notice I spoke in the past tense.  It *was* hypertriglyceridemia, not *is* hypertriglyceridemia.  For the first time in six long years, my levels are within normal range.  Not in the “Danger Will Robinson!” zone, nor the “Weallgonnadie!” zone, either.  Nope, they can’t call me “Crisco for blood” anymore.  I have finally found something to fix what you cannot.  Consider it a bypass of the rubble pile that was your support system.

You know, it’s been six years, a fired doctor, a moved-away doctor, my current doctor, her horrible staff, four drugs, and side effects, but I finally found something that works.  And I’ve beaten the hypertriglyceridemia down with a stick.  We are the champions!  We are the champions!  No time for losers!  And, I know it’s not your fault that you don’t work anymore, thyroid, but this stick has your name on it.  *wink wink*  You just keep that in mind.

No, first I need to use it to kick my own ass for being so lazy and falling off that exercise wagon again.  Grr…

Hugsnkisses loveyousomuch,

Signed:  Mike “Takes No Prisoners”

Mike that’s fantastic that you are feeling 105% awesome..Like so many have said to me “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. If you feel this good then I wouldn’t change anything either.. go by your symptoms and not TSH, keep a note of your FT3 and FT4 and remember where they are now so if things do ever change (hoping they don’t) you can head right back to the spot that made you feel this good and maybe you’ll get an extra 5% extra portion of awesome.

Way to go! It is so inspiring to know that there are people who can get up above th 85%, gives the rest of us hope! THANKS FOR SHARING and glad you hung in there and keep the “takes no prisoners” attitude, and seems to be working for you 🙂

Mike- I’m dealing with hypertriglyceridemia as well and it is good to know that your replacement hormones are doing the trick. I have Hashimoto’s and have been euthyroid, so I have not been a candidate for synthetic hormones, but my TSH is finally elevated even though my hormone levels (T4/T3) look good. My triglycerides, Cholesterol (HDL up and LDL down), and fasting glucose are all elevated since last year’s labs. Extremely frustrating since I’ve been doing everything I am supposed to. I also cannot get my weight under control despite my best efforts at regular exercise and healthy eating habits. Starting to think it is time to give in to synthetic thyroid hormones and start pushing my docs in that direction.
