The Dear Thyroid Team is comprised of individuals from all walks of life, all over the country. If someone asked me a few years ago if I would have the privilege of working alongside Joanna, Melissa, Dr. Sara Gottfried, Anna Warner, Ann Glanders, Allison Nazarian and Tracy Goldberg, I would have asked, “How would I even meet such people?”

Every team member donates their invaluable time to write columns, connect on Facebook/Email/Twitter and give of themselves without expectation. Daily, I think about this, and each person. I ask myself “Why?”

They are rare gems, altruistic souls with one goal… To make sure that no patient feels alone. They remind us that kindness, brilliance and unconditional love exists. As we go about our daily lives, each of these extraordinary beings thinks of US every day; sending us missives, lifelines and exceptional information, so that we are armed with resources to make educated decisions about our health – Not because they have to. Rather, they want to.

Dear Thyroid would not be what it is today, but for every single volunteer’s boundless generosity and a burning desire to be there for us, even when we don’t realize we need them.

Regardless of why or how we were gifted with thyroid cancers and diseases, we are bound by the roots of an ancient Redwood tree. We laugh, rant, rave and express unimaginable anger, in addition to resourceful articles about our diseases.

If you don’t know the team, please take a moment and get to know them. Let them know how they’ve impacted our lives. Speaking for myself, they’ve left an indelible imprint and changed me for the better. Through tears and laughter, life lessons they’ve imparted have made me a better person.

Thank you, Dear Thyroid Team, for everything you do. You are appreciated more than you know. The work you do never falls on deaf ears.

Love,

Katie
