Just Curious, Doctor, Do you Hear Me?!
Dear Doctor,
I just wanted to take this moment to show my appreciation for your absolute lack of priority with my thyroid, or lack there of one. Doctor and nurse alike have been just impossible to get in contact with after taking me off of my medicine in preparation for a body scan.
I really love being off my medicine and I love what it does to my personality. And furthermore, I love how it affects my relationships.
I thank you so much for wreaking havoc in my life with no care in the world, because its not you who is going through this now, is it? How did you know that one of my favorite activities is sleeping for twelve hours, waking up and then within 2 hours, feeling incredibly tired again?! I could be done with all of this fun by now, but thanks to your oh so busy schedule, I’m not. And for that, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

I consider medical care like car shopping, if you don’t like the “ride” then trade it in. Sometimes it means you have to go out of your location, but truly no one should feel the way you do when possible alternatives exist. For what it is worth, my care at Johns Hopkins in Maryland has been exceptional. Good luck!

I’m not a man but I go through the same crap by doctors. I sleep all the time but keep getting told UP YOUR DOSE! So I do! Then I crash again and again hypo but trying to find out why? Doctor is away/busy/with a patient/can’t be bothered/sick and tired of you calling all the time and is now hiding under his/her desk. Evan I HEAR YOU loud and clear, just a bum THEY don’t! Cheers!

I finally started reading books about thyroid problems. However, any doctor that wrote that the TSH test was infallible had his book put back on the shelf. Some books say that adrenal exhaustion could be a problem with hypothyroid patients. You could look into that. Some doctors do not believe that the adrenal glands could be malfunctioning; they think that they are either perfect or have Addison’s Disease. Good luck finding a doctor that can think, but it begins with you arming yourself with knowledge.

My reply was a little off your topic. After I read all the other replies my answer included their responses. Yes, I can empathize with your being taken off thyroid. Many endocrinologists lowered my dose as per TSH test and I would begin suffering from dementia, weak muscles, tendinitis. Because I do not make TSH ( there are a few reasons for this symptom apparently unknown to my doctors ) one doctor suggested I stop taking thyroid for 3 to 6 months to see what would happen to the test. I would have ended up in a coma! We have to stand up for ourselves.
