We kicked off the day with a thylicious thyku from Mike Wilson – brooding and soulful – a grand departure from Mike’s usual wit, though short and to the point. Sadly, I think we’re all too intimately familiar with Mike’s Dear Thyroid Letter. Send some love and share your story with him.

This afternoon, Wedgwood Compounding Pharmacy, friend to the thyroid and Dear Thyroid, wrote a wonderful post about what a compounding pharmacy is and does. For thyroid patients, many of us on natural thyroid had a lot of questions. Wedgwood graciously addressed those questions in their post. Finally, they even gifted the Dear Thyroid community with a special discount. Be sure to click over and read it.

Poetic Injustice, a snippet of Mike’s Thyku:

The clouds overhead

In my mind heavy unease

Ominous portent

Today’s comment…

Mike, I’m feeling it too, not just for myself but my husband who’s lately been experiencing ominous neck symptoms. Love you all.

What To Do When Your Doctor Prescribes A Custom-Compounded Medication, a fabulous post from Wedgwood Pharmacy. Here’s a snippet “When your physician prescribes a custom-compounded thyroid medication for your condition, he is she is essentially sending you to a custom tailor of medicine, who will prepare the exact dosage and form that is right for you.  Compounded medications are made just for you, allowing your doctor to specify the appropriate active ingredients, dosage form, strength, size — and even the flavor —that is best for you.”

yogichic says:

I cannot thank you enough for writing about compounding medication and what to expect. I have been contemplating switching from Synthroid to Armour but wasn’t sure if it is worth the hassle to try and see if/how it works for me. Next week when I see the doctor I will be asking to switch to the compounded thyroid medication. I’ve already decided if she hems and haws about it that I will switch to another doctor.

Also thanks for the heads up about the special offer by Wedgewood Pharmacy.

Love, love, love DearThyroid!!!

A few notes. The Butterflygraph submission deadline is fast approaching, July 15th. We will be posting all submissions each day beginning July 16th. Be sure to get your b-graphs in. Submit ASAP.

We’ve received such wonderful cards for the “B” card campaign. Please keep them coming, and thank you for the outpouring of support and love. We are NOT reading your cards, just so you know. Receiving them is absolutely wonderful. We’re super excited to send to “B”. Deadline for all cards to be submitted is July 31st.

Tomorrow, we’re cracking open the day with a new Dear Thyroid Letter, of course; followed by a new installation of Chronic Snarkopolist.

Love,

Dear Thyroid

Love “comment of the day” section. I shows me things I might have missed, helps me understand things that are still beyond me and reminds me why I came here in the first place. Thanks.
