Joanna is a graduate student at Clemson University studying to get her MBA and her MS in Bioengineering. As a grad student, Joanna caught the entrepreneurial bug and has worked with several different start-up companies helping them conduct the market research they need to effectively launch their business.
Joanna was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in October 2008, her life forever changed. After two surgeries and two treatment doses of RAI, Joanna is still learning how to live side by side with cancer. She has a passion for learning how to use her cancer to help others and lives with the outlook that something as horrific as cancer can eventually be turned into something beautiful. Joanna also enjoys finding the humor in cancer (yes, there’s humor in the midst of this chaos!), and her brothers are great at helping her do that.
When she has the energy, Joanna loves to play racquetball, tennis, and golf. You can read more about her on her blog, the eye of the storm.
Joanna’s column is published twice a month on Tuesdays.
