Invisible No More, Thyroid Awareness Bands, Dear Thyroid

Thank you in advance for your incredible patience, we appreciate it, and YOU.

We have over 2,000 bands to send out, as mentioned, which we are sending in 500 increments per week. To be sure everyone gets their bracelets, kindly give us until April. If you haven’t received your bracelet by mid April, please contact Katie and let her know.

As of February 1st, we began accepting SASE’s (Self Addressed Stamped Envelopes), for bracelets, which are still 100% free. We encourage you to continue sending in your SASE’s. We are receiving them and sending awareness bands.

Please send your SASE’s to:

Law Offices of Link K. Schwartz

Attn: Katie Schwartz

1925 Century Park East, Suite 2300

Los Angeles, CA 90067

VERY IMPORTANT: If you are receiving mail in the United States, be sure that your SASE’S have 2/61 cent stamps

Postage for Thyroid Awareness bands

If you’ve received your bracelet, please let us know! In fact, if you’d like to send a pic, too, well that would be just dandy.

Thank you for spreading awareness! Keep those SASE’s coming.

Love,

Dear Thyroid

Wings Of Hope Racing For A Cure For Thyroid Cancer Week 11 Update

dearthyroid | February 19th, 2010 | 2 Comments »

Wings of Hope, Racing for a cure for thyroid cancer

Happy belated Valentine’s Day from Wings of Hope!  There are only 61 days left until the Relay for Life at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland!  We are still number one with a total of $2,886.00 raised, but Team SASH is closely behind us with a total of $2,254.43 raised.  We need to ramp up our fundraising efforts quickly if we’re going to make our goal of $5,000.00

Again, if you haven’t all ready, I encourage our team members to log in to their participant centers on the ACS website and start updating their personal pages for donations.   There is also an application on facebook that will help you with meeting your $100 personal goals.  Both of these tools will provide donators with official receipts from the American Cancer Society.

Have you heard?  Dear Thyroid and Wings of Hope have teamed up for a fundraiser going on now until March 16th.  Our thytastic sponsors are giving away up to ten “Invisible No More” bracelets for the person or team that can help us with our fundraising goals.  Find out how you can get FREE JEWELRY and more.

Dear Thyroid, Wings of Hope

We are also holding a fundraiser amongst our team members:  the team member that raises $500 between February 7th and February 28th will win a $25 Macy’s Gift Card.  So donate in honor of your favorite team member today!  Our newest teammate, Samantha Kidwell is in the lead with $250 raised last week and Rachel Markus is in second place with $250 raised.

We would like to thank the following people for their generous donations and support:  Barry Campbell, Tina Bintliff, and Jennifer Dees.  Thank you!

Every dollar puts us one step closer to finding a cure for cancer.  So as you spend today with the one you love, take a moment to remember all those out there who are spending Valentine’s Day alone because cancer took the life of the ones they loved.

So get out there, spread the word and help us with our fundraising goals.  If you’ve all ready donated, please tell your friends and family about Wings of Hope and pass the word along.  Don’t forget to visit our website at:  http://main.acsevents.org/goto/wings2010 .

Until next week,

Wings of Hope

UPDATE on Thyroid Awareness Bands

thyroid awareness bands, invisible no more, thyroid awareness bracelets

Thank you to everyone for contributing to spreading awareness by ordering bracelets. We are grateful to you and for you.

Our collective desire to keep awareness going as a thyamily (family) is very important. Together, we can invoke change and achieve anything! We encourage you to continue placing orders for bracelets.

We were overwhelmingly surprised by the outpouring of orders we received. In our wildest dreams we never imagined it—we’re so proud of each and every one of you.

We have already begun sending out bracelets. We’ve also ordered thousands of additional bracelets to fill existing and new orders; and we will fill each and every order. Your patience is incredibly appreciated, as we’ll be sending out bracelets throughout February and March.

As of February 1st, all new bracelets ordered will still be 100% free. We will, however, be requesting a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope).

Address:

C/O Law Offices of LKS

Attn: Katie Schwartz

1925 Century Park East, Suite 2300

Los Angeles, CA 90067

Keep those orders coming! Keep spreading awareness.

Send ideas about how you think we can spread awareness to DearThyroid@gmail.com. One month isn’t enough. If we want funding, insurance/medication/medical/doctor accountability, education for our doctors and the general population; and ultimately a cure, we have to work together to find the way. We believe that we can achieve this—in fact, we think we can do ANYTHING we put our minds to.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us. Similarly, if you haven’t received your bracelet by the middle of March, please email us and let us know.

Final request, as you start receiving your bracelets, please send us pictures of yourselves wearing them and a blurb about why wearing it is significant to you. We have a page on our site called “Wearing My Disease On My Sleeve™”. We will be launching a similar page with patients and families wearing their bracelets.

A special thank you to Mary Shomon, renowned thyroid patient advocate for:

  1. Creating the Thyroid Awareness Month website
  2. Mary’s tireless efforts to improve and empower ourselves as patients on About.com and her books.
  3. Spreading the word about Dear Thyroid’s Awareness bands
  4. Writing an outstanding article about The Top 10 Thyroid Stories of the Decade

Love,

Dear Thyroid, Katie, Liz & Robyn

PS: We’ve updated the Invisible No More Thyroid Awareness Bands page to reflect this post.

Wings of Hope Weeks 5 & 6 Update
12/26/09 – 1/10/10

Happy New Year from Wings of Hope! We hope the holidays treated you well and that the New Year will bring you all that you wish for.

We are still the number one team for this event and our resolution is to continue raising money for cancer research. We have 95 days left until the race on April 16th and we are 40% of the way to reaching our goal of $5,000.00.

We would like to thank Bill Fanaras for his generous donation to our team. I had the privilege of meeting this gentleman at ThyCa’s (Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association) conference in October 2009.

We would also like to welcome our newest team member, Brian Ferrina. He is the tenth person to sign up for Wings of Hope.

Now that the holidays are over, we are going full swing into our fundraising efforts. We still need to borrow camping equipment for the relay event, so if you know anyone who has tents, sleeping bags, coolers, etc. please ask them to help us.

Angel McMellin is making progress on setting up our bake sale, so please contact her if you would like to help.

Until next week,

Wings of Hope
