I wonder how many of us know how or when to say ‘when’, as in I’ve had enough or I need to put myself first, or if I don’t initiate a time-out for myself, I’ll never gland where I want to go. We have a few questions for you and would love to know your thoughts, opinions and ideas on the topic.

  1. Do you know how to say ‘when’?
  2. Do you know your body’s limitations?
  3. Do you work with your body’s limitations or against them?
  4. Conversely, do you know when to push yourself and when to chill it?
  5. How many times have you wished you could’ve said ‘when’ and didn’t?

Ready? Set. Write.

    1. Do you know how to say ‘when’? Sometimes but still working on it, ad infinitum
    2. Do you know your body’s limitations? My body tells me when it’s time to stop or quit what I’m doing (which leads to question 3)
    3. Do you work with your body’s limitations or against them? Still learning how to listen to my body so that my mind doesn’t take over. My mind has always controlled me to push myself past the breaking point. I believe that is one of the reasons my physical body started breaking down and led to dis-ease
    4. Conversely, do you know when to push yourself and when to chill it? Depends on what I’m doing. Exercising? Sometimes I need to push myself. Exhausted after pushing myself while exercising? Then I need to chill
    5. How many times have you wished you could’ve said ‘when’ and didn’t? Don’t know, too many to count

1 Well…working on it. There are times I’m simply having a great time or am too involved, and am not paying attention to what my system is telling me.

2 Um…Yes, usually. And if I don’t, it is sure to tell me.

3 My tendency is to work against them, because I’m a type A. Ambitious, intrigued, so much I want to do, so stopping seems almost criminal. Much of that also doubtless comes from my upbringing; stopping to rest or nap, even if I’m nodding off very obviously, is ‘lazy’ and definitely unproductive, or seems that way. It’s not that I hate to miss things, it is that I hate the idea of missing opportunities to get things done, if that makes sense. Let’s put it this way: if I’m beat but working, I’ll keep working away. If I’m beat and Hubby says, “Let’s go for a walk/visit the town festival” I’m a little more likely to say “No, I’m just exhausted…and still have so much work to do.” Is that bad? 😉

4 I agree with Monica. When exercising, I tend to push till it’s stop or drop unless there’s a time constraint. Even if utterly fatigued afterwards…I have a life to live, a business to run. There is no downtime.

    5 Countless.

  3. Lolly says:

1.Do you know how to say ‘when’? Yes, and WHEN I say it they know I mean it don’t push I don’t want to do it or I am not up to it.
2.Do you know your body’s limitations? Yes, I know when my body needs to rest I can only push it so far bgetting lack of sleep I get tired during the day or may have an off day I tend to catch up on rest.Or muscles ache I donlt over exert myself.
3.Do you work with your body’s limitations or against them? I am guilty of overdoing it, only because i want to see a job through so i can rest but now i have decided it will be done when I feel up to it and not before, I still haven’t finished the decorating in K’s house yet.
4.Conversely, do you know when to push yourself and when to chill it? sometimew depends how bad things get, there are times I will walk away and go chill rahter than get confrontational or ragey and other times I just let it all out.
5.How many times have you wished you could’ve said ‘when’ and didn’t? Loads of times but i am learning to say it more often When i feel up ot it is my new motto and i’m sticking with it.

My brain is still burning along with my stomach, my shoulders are aching and I’m a bit weak from heavy monthly. So chilli is a blood thinner. I came across some hilarious stuff while internetting my condition, always have to enjoy the strawberry when the tiger chases you over the cliff. Brain, please remember that your throat bled, and remember this awful experience and DON’T EAT CHILLI AGAIN!!
