DEAR THYROID^TM

What an inspiring day on Dear Thyroid. I’m bouncing all over the place. I’m so proud of everyone for rallying in support of “B”, and sending her cards as she strives towards wellness.

This afternoon, I was dishing with a good friend, and he said “Why should anyone care about me?” I thought, because you’re a person. We need to care about humanity, about people. Little things matter, even when we think they don’t. Using your club card to save the the guy in front of you a few bucks at the grocery store or giving someone a dollar, or, in this case, sending a card to a 17-year-old who should be picking out prom dresses instead of chemo cocktails.

Thank you. You take my breathe away and astound me on a daily basis. You embody the gift of kindness and decency. I am grateful to you and for you, for that and so much more.

Here’s an excerpt: “Do you remember how you felt after you were diagnosed with thyroid cancer/disease? I do. I had a mixture of feelings course through my body, all of which I remember vividly. One of those feelings was a sense of being alone.”

To rally in support of “B”, here’s an excerpt from Joanna’s post: “One of our youngest community members (“B”) has thyroid cancer and is facing a hard journey. With external beam radiation and quite possibly chemotherapy in her near future, she needs this community to rally around her and cheer her on as she courageously moves forward with treatment. Let’s bombard her with love and encouragement. Here’s what we at Dear Thyroid want you to do: send “B” a card showing your support and your love. Let her know we’re all in this together. Remind her why she’s fighting. Remind her she’s not alone.”, and the link to send your cards.

Mike I’m with you on this one!!! Well said… I’ve been sick for so long and we’ve been going in circles for so long, I’m soo feeling this way now. I finally got a diagnosis last week cancer, and now everyone is like oh i guess you are really sick, oh it wasn’t in your head, whatever!!! you think i like feeling this way? I hope all starts improving with you. I’m sending hugs and tons of positive energy your way. Please continue telling that damn thyroid to work it out… keep us posted.
