If You Listen, Dear Doctor, Here is What’s in it For You
Once again I will be visiting you today. Me and my notebook with all my questions and fears.
I will be honest, Dr., I am pretty done. And tired. Always tired. I want you to hear me so badly.
When I tell you the things that are happening now; the atrial fibrillation, the sleep apnea, I am not asking you to “fix” them. I am trying to get you to look at me as a whole patient. Not just a piece of paper in your hand. I am more than the TSH you are so fond of. Treat me as a person with multiple symptoms that are worsening.
I am a mom and gramma to people who love and need me; yet have given up on ever getting me back.
Please, Please, Please look me in the face.
Talk to me and most of all HEAR me.
