Thyoliday Blues And Truths Hungry For TSH
HTSH (Hungry for TSH) has thyroid cancer, a Stage 3 tumor. When I first met HTSH, I loved her sense of humor; she’s hysterical in that irreverent way that we all appreciate. Additionally, her ability to feel and express her anger is paramount, in my opinion to the healing process. Like many of us dealing with our respective thyroid diseases and thyroid cancers, anger is a normal response to a diagnosis and dealing on a daily basis with symptoms, medical costs, mood swings and the radical changes our bodies endure.
A kindred Thyrella, HTSH is the kind of bird you want to hang out with and meet. She’s intense, easy going, intelligent and, I digress, funny. In fact, she’ll be joining our January 9th call.
HTSH was diagnosed with thyroid cancer just under a year ago and in time for the holidays, what a gift?! HTSH shares her experience of the holiday’s post immediate diagnosis and the impact it had on her family and the holidays. Similarly, she explains how she manages her family with respect to her thyroid cancer.
What most people may or may not know about HTSH, is that she is in medical school, so when she was diagnosed, though few people knew, at a school function, her colleagues learned that she had thyroid cancer. HTSH also discusses how her body reacts to imbalanced TSH and how she manages the stress.
By using humor, HTSH deals with her cancer and angrily dispels misconceptions about the curability, as well as sharing some outrageous things people have said to her.
Now, for the good stuff, read HTSH’s Thyoliday Blues and Truths post. Get to know this brave, irreverent and funny dame.
