Sometimes we all need a lifeline and, especially when we don’t know it. Out of left field, a missive, a voice, a note, a letter, a rant, a whatever; tosses an orange ring into our corner and says I hear it in your voice, what’s wrong? Or I read your rant, your letter, your comment and the tear ducts well up. Before we know it, we’ve vomited everything that’s been burning inside our heart, mind and body.

Exquisite and tortured release?

The experience is liberating, cathartic and healing, though we don’t always walk away with an answer; we were HEARD by someone who WANTED to LISTEN. I think that is the essence of Dear Thyroid. Moreover, a lifeline reminds us that we aren’t alone and that we are worth an investment of time, and so much more.

To life and every lifeline.

This Week’s Word for Acrostic Poetry Is… BEFORE

This week, we are seeking submissions for acrostic poetry using the word BEFORE. Write your hearts out. Write for yourself and for all of us. Remind the Invisible Illness communities, that we are not invisible. We will keep writing and posting as much as we possibly can. And, soon, very soon, we will circulate a petition. In that petition, we hope to have thousands of Acrostic poems that we can list from individuals with autoimmune disorders, thyroid autoimmune disease, thyroid conditions and thyroid cancers. Submit to Katie@dearthyroid.org. We’ve already received some beautiful submissions and we will be posting all week long. WE ARE NOT INVISIBLE – and this is worth fighting for.

Join the Discussion, Today, we are going to be writing mini Dear Thyroid Letters in one sentence blurbs, in comments. Here are a few sentences to fill in the blanks

I am so_____ I could absolutely _____

Why, Dear Thyroid, must you ______

I am desperate to _____

I feel great when _____

I love myself because _____

Ready? Set. Write!

Why, Dear Thyroid, must you make me cry everytime I wash my hair and see the hair clumps in the sink?
