Twenty-Third Entry: Thyroid Literary Contest – Three Words of Encouragement
My four words of encouragement are:
Family–is always there to help keep me on my feet and take care of me when I’m too sick to put my hair up in the morning before school, and are always there to joke around and make you laugh.
Guiding–Girl Guides of Canada has been a place to get away from all the drama of dealing with being freshly diagnosed with a thyroid disease, as well it helped me cope because I had a unit of girls aged 12-14 who counted on me to be there for them and I was able to model that you can do anything, even if your body tries to prevent me from continuing.
Hope– has always been there throughout the whole battle, either being hopeful that we will find out what is wrong with me, hope that they will figure out a cure for all thyroid conditions, and hope that I will stay in remission.
Goals–are what have always gotten me through this disease from raising my marks up in high school, to setting the goal, that I want to get my first degree after I graduated high school, to now my goal of graduating with my Bachelor of Education degree with honors.
(Bio) My name is Aynslee and I was first diagnosed with Graves/Hyperthyroidism when I was 15 years old. I am now 22 and have been hoping that I will stay in remission hopefully the third times the charm.
