Nineteenth Entry: Thyroid Literary Contest – Three Words of Encouragement
Each day, a gift.
Not only is each day a gift that I receive, but a gift that I can give to others–an opportunity to share both strengths and vulnerabilities. By reaching out, we create beautiful moments that resonate through a community of caring, lifting our spirits and bringing joy to our lives–the unexpected glimpse of a butterfly.
On a personal note (not for sharing), a butterfly came into my life in the form of a beloved daughter-in-law whose whole back is a butterfly tattoo. At age 30, she is fighting the ravages of metastatic breast cancer. When I look at your painting, I see the vibrant, beautiful, artistic soul that she is. Giving it to her would be a way of lifting her spirits and honoring the joy she has brought to me and all the other lives atound her, especially her husband and four-year-old daughter–a lasting testament to a beautiful life. Please help me tell her how much she is loved.
